With the new Advanced Formula Builder, you can go beyond the basics when it comes to Custom Reports. Get the tools at your fingertips to build out complex custom calculations with ease (even if math isn't your strong suit). This enhancement introduces access to a rich and growing library of functions, fields, operators, and other advanced options to help create tailored insights directly within reports.

Now you have greater flexibility and control when analyzing your reporting data. Whether it's building detailed calculations or tailoring insights to specific needs, reporting just got a whole lot more powerful. Here’s how it works:
Functions: Choose from 24 functions to transform your raw data into meaningful insights. It’s perfect for making decisions, running calculations, or shaping custom outputs.
Fields: Build formulas using a wide range of field types, including:
16 standard fields available in project-type reports
10 standard fields available in task-type reports
Custom fields (number, checkbox, and date) supported in both report types
Operators: Access 11 operators—from mathematical to logical—to compare values, perform calculations, and control logic in your formula.
We know, that sounds like a lot—and it is! Thankfully, we’ve also included a more intuitive layout with inline help, syntax tips, and built-in examples to make creating formulas less daunting. Good news if you’re a manager or an admin—you can now mark project-level custom fields as required within templates.

Why does this matter? This ensures that critical project information (like client type or region) is captured every time a project is created, so you never have to worry about inconsistencies in your data or missing key details during the setup process.
Let’s say you’re creating a project from a template—you’ll be prompted to complete all required fields to prevent incomplete project setups. Projects can't be created until all required custom fields are filled, with real-time validation highlighting any missing information. It's a win for consistency and completeness.
